It only seems appropriate that an Irish lass win a title fight on St Patrick’s Day at the Shamrock Rumble at the Jungle Plex in Plymouth MA. Cagefighting Extreme 19 held the first Ladies 135lb Ammy Title fight.
The Contenders: Jen Rivera faced newcomer Peggy Morgan from Triumph MMA in NH.
After an all out two round brawl, Rivera could not answer the third round bell.
Morgan said, “I was a little surprised when she didn’t come out for the third round, but her nose was looking pretty mashed toward the end of the second round.”
Rivera (2-1-0) suffered her first loss due to her corner calling the fight before the third round because of a broken nose. Morgan won the title via TKO improving her record to 2-0-0.
Jen Rivera has been training in martial arts since she was 10. She is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, and Cobra Karate and a Blue Belt in Japanese Jujitsu. She is undefeated in martial arts tournaments around the world. She got into MMA because she wanted to test herself going full force. Rivera finished her first two fights in under a minute against Rachel Perez and Sarah Payant. While maintaining her fight training she is also a mother of two and a paralegal.

Morgan said of the fight “Overall I was happy with my performance in the fight. I got to let my hands go, which was my biggest goal going into it. I was hoping to finish the RNC in the first round but couldn’t get it locked up tight enough.”

Rumor has it she will be facing Jen Lopez on June 2 as well.
Century Fighting Championships will be hosting an Amateur Women’s Battle with Amanda Buckner’s student, Maria Rios (1-0-0) from The Academy in Maine. Rios will be facing Fernanda Aurajo (0-1-0) at the ICenter in Salem NH on March 31.
